Privacy policy
Last updated 3 August 2026.
This policy explains how Talia Capital collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information, and how you can access it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and this policy is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect and where it comes from
Public business information. Talia Capital researches Australian businesses that may fit our acquisition criteria. In doing so we collect information from public sources: the Australian Business Register (ABN Lookup), ASIC’s public registers, and business websites. This can include business names, ABNs and ACNs, registration dates, registered locations, business addresses, and the names of company directors and business owners as they appear on those public registers. Director and owner names are personal information, and we treat them as such.
Information you give us. If you contact us by phone, email or the enquiry form on this site, we collect what you choose to provide: typically your name, business name, industry, state, phone number, email address and your message.
From this website. Nothing beyond your enquiry. This site uses no analytics, no advertising trackers and no third-party cookies, which is why it has no cookie banner. Standard web server logs (IP address, pages requested, time) are kept briefly for security and operations.
What we use it for
We use personal information for three purposes only:
- To identify businesses that may fit our acquisition criteria and to write to their owners about a possible sale. How this works is described openly on how we source businesses.
- To respond to enquiries and carry on conversations you start with us.
- To progress a potential acquisition where an owner chooses to take that path.
We do not sell personal information, rent it, trade it, or share it with anyone for their marketing. We do not use it to build profiles for any purpose other than the acquisition research described above.
Who we disclose it to
Service providers who help us operate: our email delivery provider (for the enquiry form and correspondence), our printing and mail providers (for letters), and our IT hosting providers. They receive only what they need to perform the service and are not permitted to use it for anything else. Some providers, including our email delivery provider, store data outside Australia, typically in the United States. Beyond that, we disclose personal information only where the law requires it, or to our professional advisers (who are bound by their own confidentiality obligations) in the course of an actual transaction.
How long we keep it
Public business research information is kept while a business remains potentially relevant to our acquisition criteria, and deleted when it is not. Enquiry correspondence is kept while a conversation is live or could reasonably resume. If you ask to be removed from our outreach, we keep the minimum record needed to make sure we never contact you again, and nothing else.
Access, correction and removal
You can ask us at any time: what information we hold about you or your business, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop contacting you. Email enquiries@taliacapital.com.au and we will respond within 30 days, and removal from our outreach is permanent and unconditional.
Security
Personal information is held in access-controlled systems, encrypted in transit, and limited to the information described in this policy. We deliberately hold little: no financial records, no customer lists, nothing beyond public registers and what you have sent us.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, email enquiries@taliacapital.com.au with the details and we will investigate and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
